Pseudo-Viscosity of emulsions | Saybolt

The determination of Saybolt pseudo-viscosity is described in test standards ASTM D88, for petroleum products in general, and ASTM D7496, for bitumen emulsions. These methods are applied in countries basing their characterizations on the ASTM standardization system.

The test consists of measuring the time taken by a specified quantity of emulsion to flow through an orifice of given dimensions (Saybolt Furol) at a temperature of 25 ° C or 50 ° C depending on the type of emulsion.
