FRAASS | Automatic Breaking Point Tester


The Fraass breaking point of weakness method provides a measure of the brittleness of bitumen and bituminous binders at low temperatures.

A bituminous binder sample is spread on a thin steel blade to a uniform thickness, this blade is subjected to constant cooling and flexed repeatedly until the binder layer cracks.

The temperature at which the first cracking appears is noted as the Fraass point of weakness.
