This procedure measures the quantity of the most volatile components in fluxed and fluidized bitumens. The properties of the residue after distillation are not necessarily characteristic of the bitumen used in the original mixture, the presence of silicone in the sample may affect the performance of the test by delaying the loss of volatile matter.
